Why Many Women Prefer a Female Gastroenterologist?

Many women prefer seeing a female gastroenterologist because discussing digestive symptoms can feel personal or uncomfortable. A Comfortable, Respectful Approach to Digestive Care

Many women delay seeing a gastroenterologist because they feel embarrassed discussing digestive symptoms or anxious about what an evaluation might involve. At Shaya Digestive & Liver Clinic, we strive to make every appointment as comfortable and reassuring as possible.

You’ll have time to discuss your symptoms, ask questions, review your medical history, and understand your treatment options before any testing is recommended. Our goal is to help you feel informed, respected, and confident in your care from your first visit through long-term follow-up.

Digestive Symptoms Women Commonly Experience

Many women delay seeking care because they assume digestive symptoms are “normal” or feel uncomfortable discussing them. However, persistent or worsening symptoms deserve evaluation by a gastroenterologist.

Common concerns we evaluate include:

  • Chronic bloating and excessive gas
  • Abdominal pain or cramping
  • Constipation
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Changes in bowel habits
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Rectal bleeding or blood in the stool
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Persistent nausea or vomiting
  • Feeling full quickly after eating
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Iron-deficiency anemia
  • Family history of colorectal cancer
  • Pelvic floor–related bowel concerns
  • Pregnancy-related digestive changes
  • Menopause-related digestive symptoms

If these symptoms continue, become more severe, or interfere with your daily routine, a thorough evaluation can help determine the underlying cause and guide appropriate treatment.
